"This is pack that will carry a good sized load very comfortably. The suspension wands are a nice touch. Nice array of pockets as well. I do have some reservations about quality control after the production move to Mexico because I had a zipper break on the very first trip. Dana fixed it with no problem, but it was still a hassle. All in all, however, this is a large capacity, well designed pack that will carry a large heavy load comfortably."

"I have been using my shortbed for nearly 10 years and can say that it iw without question the best pack ever made. Plenty of room inside the bag, a couple of exterior pockets, pouch for platypus, excellent place below the pack on the frame to carrying wet gear, and due to the curved frame, it will stand by itself on fairly level ground.
Negatives.......It is a little heavy compared to some other packs, but the pluses far outweigh the negatives. If there is one for sale, I'm buying, but have had no luck finding this pack on the secondary market."

"I have had this backpack since 1998. It is hands down the best external backpack ever. The suspension is great. I used it on a solo trip, loaded up to 70 lbs, got it on my back and everything felt great. This bag begs for weight... I bought this pack before they moved production to China, it was made in Mexico and from what I have seen I would try and get one of the ones made in Mexico. They changed the material in the hip belts and shoulder straps... The pack is not the best for one nighters, but it does a decent job."
