"This external frame backpack is the best. Comfortable, big, spacious, not to hot in warm weather.
Problems, Hip belt came detached, hip belt buckle broke, Shoulder strap buckles rusted through, zippers wore out. Kelty repared all for free, not bad on a 21 year old backpack suffering years of scouting and backpacking."

"bought mine in 2001. it's a great pack. swallows everything i put in it even though it's hard to keep it all straight. don't buy this pack if you need a lot of movement."

"I have had my Tioga for almost 30 years and I still use it for 80% of my trips. I have a large IF pack for winter ski trips and technical routes where balance is important, but the old Kelty is still my first choice for summer trips over moderate to difficult terrain. If ropes aren't needed, I carry the Tioga.

It is easy to pack, comfortable, and rugged - big enough that I don't have to hang a bunch of stuff on the outside.

I probably look a little déclassé compared to others on the trail, but at 52 who cares?"

"Great pack. Bought it about three years ago and has been great. The adjustable frame in all aspects works well for fitting and aranging gear. The outside pockets make accessing frequently used items a breeze. Down sise: when you over load it, the pack is a beast to get on and off. This is more my problem than the pack. Truely a good pack."

"I only have positive things to say about Kelty backpacks. My experience goes back to 1980 when I bought a Tioga used out of an Anchorage Alaska newspaper. Have used it many times hunting and hiking over the years without a major problem. If you take care if it, it will take care of you."

"Best pack ever made. I bought mine in 1976, and it has never let me down. Sure it's not high tech, but it does what it was designed to do. Old school still rocks."
