Kelty Trekker 3950 Review

"Got this pack for $100 a couple of years ago and it's been well worth it. I've tried several other internal frame packs, but this is still my 'go-to' pack for general backpacking on trails. Carries weight very well and has lots of places to tie extra stuff down (including the frame). Only drawbacks are the usual for external frame packs -- it's bulky and the frame catches on branches, rocks and other obstacles, so going off-trail is more of a challenge. Of course, it also tends to swing around on your back if you run or jump, or if you're XC skiing. (I wonder why Kelty doesn't put any compression straps on their external frame packs...?) But for long weekends spent trail-walking, this is a great pack."
