"After reading many reviews across the internet and talking to many "mountain men" around town I was convinced that this was the boot to fit my needs. I have just started winter camping, and ice climbing here in the Steamboat area. The past two weekends I have spent at 9800 ft elevation. We hiked in from the trailhead 4.9 miles to our camp. After a hike in these boots my feet were in good shape with my only compaint being the upper boot rubbing like crazy on my shin. When we arrived at camp I changed my socks before we started to build our shelter for the night. After we constructed a respectable quinzee I changed my socks again to settle in for the night while we cooked dinner. My feet got increasingly cold as the temp dropped to 0 degrees. ( o degrees is not that cold for our mountains) I was standing on a half inch form pad to insulate me from the snow, I had on dry new smartwool socks and I was still getting cold. I thought that these were a mountaineering boot. My feet finally warmed up when I switched into my $5 walmat slippers. These boots may be more suited for a day hike or a day outing to go Ice climbing. As for making it in the backcountry I would try other options. These boots ( $365.00 ) made my four day trip miserable."
