Meindl Island Review

"I bought my pair of Meindl Island last summer and so far
I'm very pleased with them. They got the europena outdoors award in 1996 for best product and they
seem to live up to it. It is the kind of shoe that fits you
from the first time you wear it.
Made out of nubuk leather and gore-tex it's almost 100%
waterproof. It is also VERY warm. Last winter I used them slmost every day
with just one pair of ordinary socks with
temperatures of -20 degres celsius.
The only major backdraw with these shoes seems to be
the price (about 2300:- Swedish crowns, I don't know how many us dollars that would be),
wich is high. But on the other hand, you get a very good
pair of shoes for your money."

"My wife and I've used these Goretex boots in Europe since 1993 for carrying 18-21 kilo backpacks. The earlier models were too wide for my narrow feet, but since 1997 they fit perfectly. Watertight, and as comfortable as you can get with a hard, stiff mountain boot designed for heavy loads."
