"Very heavy duty Norwegian welt boots.

They look like shoes from a couple of decades ago.
They take a very long time to brake in because of the thickness of the one piece leather. After that period however they are extremely comfortable and supportive in rough terrain and with a heavy backpack.

The Russian leather keeps your feet dry without extra waterproofing.

An excellent boot for people that can take the extra weight that comes with the heavy construction."

"Heavy (size 13: about 1300 grams per boot) boots and it takes a long time to brake in, but I must say that I've never had such excellent boots before. Strange that Meindl is rather unknown in the US and Canada. It is one of Europe's top boot manufacturers.(I don't get paid for this review;-)))"

"Great boots but expensive here (250$).They are not too stiff and it is easy to walk. They are not true mountain shoes (like "super guide Galibier"). They are too supple for technical crampon. There are heavy and take a long time to be broken. Before it is hell after they are like slipper.
Very rough, resist very well to water if you add "silperfekt" (from Meindl) regularly.
They are not very warm. After two or three days in winter hike they are cold like all other leather boots. Your sweat is inside the leather and is frozen in the morning...
The Norwegian stiching (?) is not very good to "make step" in the hard snow.
Due to the Norwegian technic you could change the sole, but you could loose it sometimes (I had this problem one time).
This boot could be find very often here for moutain hunter (Pyrennees, south of France). In my experience the best ankle support and protection (except plastic boot koflach, but too stiff for easy walking).

If you want stiffer (and heavier)and classical for the mountain you have the "superperfekt" from meindl."
