"I bought these boots on sale at Big 5 for $27 (regular price is $59). The uppers are a combination leather/nylon mesh and they have carbon rubber lug soles and steel lace hooks. The lining is a Cambrelle-type material and the insoles have a low arch support. I wore them for the first time with some Superfeet footbeds on a one-night trip in the foothills of Sequoia N.P. with a moderate load (30-35 pounds) and they were comfortable and required minimal break-in (some minor "toe chop" but no blisters). They have good ankle support and the soles gripped well on loose dirt and rocks. For the price they seem like a really good value but only time will tell if they'll hold up to extended use. They're good for day hikes and light to moderate weight backpacking, but I would not recommend these for carrying heavy loads over rough terrain or for hiking on wet or snow-covered trails (they're not waterproof)."
