"I recently purchased these boots - attracted by the offer of the "air sole."
Unfortunatly, the boot was terrible - even for light hiking. The boot trapped moisture and simply would not break in. (Even though it was a light boot the toe design being all rubber would not break in.)
Additionally, after one week long trip, the tread was almost totally worn off certain places of the boot.
Additionally, I ended up w/ 7 blisters - a problem I have never had.
What a diappointment."
"The nike air mada was my first hiking shoe and I wore the same pair for 9 years until they wore out. Never had any blisters. Backpacked, climbed mountains in them. Logged hundreds of miles in them. Loved them! After they wore out my arches would ache a little after long hikes. I bought several more "rugged" boots after that did nothing but give me blisters and pain. The air mada never did that. Felt so comfortable, like a pair of tennis shoes. I'm looking for another pair!"
"Unfortuantely, I think Mark is incorrect here. Air Mada was a very lightweight pair of "trail running" shoes from Nike.
I do however agree with Lara that they were a fine pair of foot wear. I bought my pair in 1995 and it was not until August of 2007 I had to retire them. The sole on the left shoe were through.
Bummer, I am still looking for another pair since these shoes not only fit great, they also looked good. Surely missed, but I do not think it is worth re-soling these - tempting though..."
