NYC construction guy, 0/0/00 User Rating:
"Bought a pair of Raichle Palu
in 1970 from REI when it was
still a co-op paying dividends
to its customer base -- they
lasted me ten years and after
breaking them in -- my feet
never felt better than any boot I've worn since -- even
my still extant Danners hardly
compare though they've turned
out to be nearly as hardy after 20 years of less frequent use than I gave the
Palu -- the latter were so comfortable that I wore them to work for their last five
years enduring the jibes and stares of colleagues who endured their sore feet stoically -- a great boot greatly missed --"

"I climbed Mt. Shasta 13 times in these boots. Holds a crampon well. Stable for light hiking as well. Took a while to break in. Very comfortable now."
