Timberland Cadion XCR Review

"I bought these boots directly from Timberland about 3 weeks before my trip and wore them everyday prior to going on my backpack trip through the appalachian trail in New Jersey. I hiked a total of 36 miles with a 50lb backpack.

When I wore these boots, I must say they were quite comfortable and I even tested in the streams- I did not get wet at all. However, on the third day of my trip. My feet started to get wet and I could not understand why. Near the end of my trip, I noted that the bottom part of the boot was tearing apart (on both boots too!!!). Now I know why I was getting wet. By the end of the trip, the rubber side of the boots were starting to rip off. I can't tell you how angry this made me feel. The next day after returning from my trip. I went straight to timberland and replaced the old pair with new ones. Hopefully this pair will work better for me.

This pair seems different though from the first. I could hear the waterproof material when I press on the inside of the boot. Moreover, it is labeled gortex inside of it now!!! Maybe it was a defective pair. Time will only tell. I will have another backpack trip in 3 weeks. I'll write another review soon."

"I bought this pair of boots 2 weeks before a 9 mile hike with my Scout Troop. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster. We went up 2500 ft over 3 1/2 miles with 3-6" of snow and ice and several rock scrambles. then down the backside 6 miles. I was carrying approx 25lbs; we are training for Philmont. I could not have been happier. My feet were warm and dry and I did not slip at all.

I then took them 26 miles on the AT over Memorial Day weekend with 40lbs and they were great again. It was warm and dry, but my feet were cool and dry. These boots are lightweight, but act like a much heavier backpacking boot.

I had a little break in rub at the top of one ankle, but this was fixed with just a bandaid for several days of 3 mile break in walks around the neighborhood. After 3 days, they were like putting slippers on.

I have not experienced any of the quality issues I have seen on this site, or other sites reviewing this boot."
