"I have a pair I bought in 2000 and I still wear them. I just discovered the crack across the bottom and I'm now looking to buy a simalar pair. Walmart only carries a few styles and even less sizes. Can someone tell me where else I can find them as inexpensively."

"I bought a pair of top-of-the-line Walmart Earthshoes on rec. from another A/T hiker--his LL Bean boots lost stitching soon after purchase! As I am 7' 5" and usually carry a 90# pack I need substantial support. Although they don't "breath", except in the abstract, I have found them decent boots, though I carry a second pair of boots in my pack. Sort of like a relief pitcher after the Earthshoe "el Duce's" tire after a few hours of pounding. I've been on the Appalacian trail a lot. These boots sure beat walking bare-footed!"

"I bought a pair of "Bandy II" boots at Wal Mart (there is another Wal Mart brand selling the same boot as Bandy II also). They happened to fit nicely and were $29.95. I wore them around for a couple days and then took them to the Pecos Wld, NM for a week. They were great!

They have nubuck uppers, a little thinner than the expensive ones, but they are light and needed no breaking in. I got a couple of cuts on the toes rock scrambling. The big-lugged soles are great. They claim to have some sort of "waterproof" membrane, which may do more to hold moisture in than to keep it out. But they are as water resistant as several more expensive non-Gore tex boots I've had.

Bottom line is that, if they fit you, 6 pairs of these $30 boots will probably serve you better than one pair of $180 boots."

"I bought a pair of these boots in the first week of March, 2005. Today, I had to throw them away because the apparently hollow soles were blown out. They cracked all the way through across the sole, and on the heel the lugs were separating off the sole. I didn't even get a chance to hike in them! These apparently poor quality boots were used only at work. Sad thing is, I work in a hospital, not construction. I will NEVER buy this brand again."

"What? I have a pair of Walmart Earthshoe sandals. I walked miles a day in the summer last summer, and this summer I became a college student. They're still in my closet and are the most comfortable shoes I own. I may have to buy a new pair at some point because the soles are rubbed smooth. I'd also like some actual shoes in this cold weather, that were that comfortable. My mother also has earthshoes from walmart that have been in use for a year now and still going. She is also a very active person. I'd say the guy with the boots got a freak faulty item or something."
