"I wore this shell under an external frame backpack. The outer fabric could not tolerate contact with the aluminum and wore through on the first day. I returned the shell to the manufacturer and they replaced the entire bottom of the shell without charge, good as new. I like the shell but have now relegated it to the role it was apparently designed for--light duty standby. And yes, when I pack it it won't be in the external frame backpack!"
