"I first saw this in field use while winter camping in the Cascades and I must admit, I thought it was a bit over the top. I've now owned one for a year and have a blast with it. It adds a little more than a pound to pack weight but you need to also factor in the added weight of food ingredients and additional fuel. When the right number of people, right number of days, right itinerary all come together, the outback oven seems so logical and indispensible. Fresh baked pizza, brownies, or quiche in the back country have blown people away. I have used it winter camping and motorcycle touring with continued success. The 10" is the best size for backpacking although the 10" pizza was scarfed up so fast it seemed like just an appetizer, (now I plan for two). The no crust quiche recipes are just decadent and can feed 3-4 easily. This is just a really fun cooking device that offers a ton of fun in the backcountry."
