"I've used my Bibler Big Wall Bivy on several occasions. I had my first expierience with in hard rain with it last night in the North Cascades. It worked perfectly. The built in pole does keep the material off your face, but only somewhat. Mainly, it holds the zipper region off your mouth and nose so you can breathe"

"I just returned from a trip to the Crazy Mountains in Montana where I took my first ride in a bivy sack to avoid the weight of a tent. Everything worked extremely well even through a downpour but the small plastic flexible "tent pole" that was supposed to keep the material off of my face was more trouble than it was worth -- it gave me the illusion that my head would be free while, in reality, forcing the material on one side down. Otherwise, a great product if you want to keep the elements off without taking a tent with you.
