Platipus Water Container Review

"I Love my Platy Bottle. There is not much else I can say except for what everyone has said already, except I have froze mine before and it worked great, I was able to have ice cold water as it thawed out, just add gatoraide or crystal light to it and you have a nice flavored cold drink on the trail. I love it so much that I am actualy buying another one today, along with the Hoser system to put in my bag. Im gonna use the hoser for drink from and the 2 platy bottles will be for cooking with.

"I love my 2.4 liter Platypus, it's very rugged (I stepped on it once, nothing happened :o), lightweight and packs nice and small when empty. Only downside I've found is that I can't seem to drink from it without spilling some water down my T-shirt and pants..."

"Platypus containers are a super lightweight water "bottle" 80% lighter than a lexan Nalgene bottle. Sturdy food-grade polyethylene plastic that stands up when full, folds to nothing when empty. It also lets you push the air out when half-full, eliminating wasted space and the sloshing sound in your pack.

Company claims that they can be frozen or put in boiling water. I got mine at Dick's, and it's held up great, although I'm careful not to drag or drop it on sharp stuff. "

"I like these - If you don't know what they are - they are basically a bag that holds water. When you do not have H20 in it - the bag folds up to nothing - it also weighs nothing (or damb close to nothing). The bag is also tough - I have two and I have dropped both several times and have never had a leak. I guess you can also put it in boiling water - although I have never tried this. These would be ideal if you have a trip where you have a day or two where water is not available - the days you do not use them they will be out of the way. One last thing, they seem sort of expensive for what you get - @$9.00 for a bag - seems like a lot - but I would buy them again."
