Western Mountaineering Alpinlite Review

"I expected top quality from this company, but it was not there. A bag that sells for $350 should be what it says it is. No so, with the Alpinlite. It is rated at 20 degrees and 5 inch loft. There is 5 inches of loft at the toe box and the neck collar. The rest varies from 4 to 4 1/2. That makes it a pretty good 30 degree bag, not 20. The outside shell material is so light that you can literally see the down through it. I don't think that it would hold up to normal use. I returned it and bought a Marmot Helium. The Helium says that there is 6 inches of loft and it really does!"

"I used mine a few times then washed it. To my relief it did great in the wash and came out with much better loft than it had when I got it. It got down to 19 degrees the other night and I was warm as toast. Hood works good. Has lots of room for a mummy bag. Long 2lb 3oz. I love it- hope the fabric holds up."
