Eureka Spitfire Review

"Lots of bang for the buck. This tent has proven tough and weatherproof this summer. Lots of head room when sitting up. Ventillates really well but stays warm in a cold wind. Easy to pack.

Nagatives: the vestibule is small, and at 6' tall I'm about as big as you would want to be in this tent.

I love this tent and I'm glad I didn't spend twice as much for a Zoid."

"I bought this new shipped for 80 bucks on ebay. I've only gotten one chance to use it thus far on a canoing trip last weekend. It worked great.
PROS:
-easy set up
-small packed size and weight
-room to sit up
-large enough for me (6'00" 170#) and some gear inside (coat, shirt, socks, large knife, head lamp, etc.)
-Easy to pack up
-nice aluminum poles included
CONS:
-very small vestibule. Almost unusable. Fit my small day pack and shoes, but definatly not enough room for my dry-bag
-w/ out rainfly there is no privacy
-no custom foot-print, I just use a tarp anyway
-cheap stakes included. throw them away."

"I am very happy with the tent. It is big enough for myself (at 1m80, 75 kg) and my backpack (though I sleep leaned against it). It is true that there is not much space in the vestibule: enough for shoes, water, ...
I have spent a night while it fully rained, and I was pitched in a slope in 10 cm grass so I could hear the water running along and under the tent, and pouring from the rainfly to the ground in an unintterupted stream, yet I was totally dry inside. I haven't been able to test its wind and snow qualities. It is very light, but not so so fast to set up without some experience.
I'd give it a 4.5"

"Rather funny little tent, just wrong color, should have been green and a faster "innerfirst-nordic" pitching princip. Anyway, when up, it's tight (silent!) and no water comes through anywhere. Could have used a zipper yo the "rear" vestibule. The inner fits exately under sixmoondesigns Gatewood cape placed diagonally. That gives a GREEN 22 oz option and a the one with the totale Spitfire of 2 lb 12. Just througt the delivered Eureka stakes away and go for 8 ti !
I'll give it a 4, missing the GREEN, the outer first, the back vestibule acces and a somewhat poor finish in sewing. BUT ! At this price, GET one !!!!

"This was my first backpacking tent purchase. I bought two for me and my son in June. I've used the Spitfire on three separate trips since then, in the Eastern Sierras, Yosemite, and the Mt. Whitney trail. While I have yet to see rain on the tent, I have grown to like its simple setup, light weight, and its ability to provide enough room for sitting up and keeping essential gear handy and safe at night. The PROs: Lightweight, bugproof, and handles wind well when properly staked. The CONS: The stakes, get titaniums right away; the vestibule(?),it is useless. I keep my backpack outside under plastic, there's no place to put it in this tent.
At this price ($65) though, you are getting a great value in lightweight protection from the elements."

"This is a great tent for the solo backpacker. Its fast to set up and easy and it is really light to. I use this on regular campouts and on expeditions to. I find that the vestibule is only good for storing shoes and some other small items. So if you are out shopping for a tent that would have a big vestibule this isn't the one. I find thought that there is still plenty of room for me and my pack in this tent. True I end up sleeping on the pack but it gives me an extra pillow so i don't have to pack one. All and all this is a great tent for anyone unless your camping with more than one person."
