"A good 4 season Taj Mahal that ventilates well enough for summers in the Sierra. A great winter tent for 2 guys and gear, or summer tent for guy, girlfriend, and two dogs. The vestibule is small, but with 40 sq. ft. you can get your gear inside anyway."

"I just used this tent(the Marmont Sanctum) for the third time on my annual winter trip to Mt. Whitney. As ever, it is an extremely strong tent in winds that will knock a person down the mountain unless they hunker into a fetal position while holding their ice-axe with two hands in a fully immersed shaft self-arrest . It does what it purports to do and remains intact even though my girlfriend and I were looking at each other inside the tent with more than mild trepidation and serious doubt as to whether or not it would be ripped right off from us from the force of the wind. We, and the tent, survived the night intact. With 40 square feet it has more than amble enough room for two people and their winter mountaineering gear inside the tent, and it would have room for three if their gear was left outside. It also has plenty of places to hang gear to dry,and for lanterns etc. And even at 6'-7", I have enough room to sit upright in the tent in a zazen position. The only drawback is the small vestibule; however, a plus to this is it's easier to find a place small enough to erect the Sanctum. I bought this tent in December 2003 on sale from Sierra Trading Post for $229.00. I believe now it is about $285.00; it would still be money very well spent."
