Sierra Designs Tiros Review

"This is one serious high altitude bomb shelter. The newer version
has a pole locking system at major pole junctions to futher
enhance rigidity. I use an interior guy line system in heavy weather.
It is almost 40 square feet and a perfect rectangle. There are many
many external guy points and the construction & materials are the
very finest. Expensive, but what isn't and money is worthless at
12,000 feet in a blizzard. Home sweet Home!!"

"If I had it to do all over again, I would buy the same tent over and over again. It is bulletproof, I mean once it is "up", you cannot deny it's ridgidity and strength. In addition, mine came with the necessary strings and clips to make it even more "tight" and stand up to winds/snow better. Two words of caution though, don't use the seam sealer that comes with the tent, it's too thick and there's not enought in there. This is strictly a 4-season winter tent, by all means, summer usage is limited b/c of it's ability to prevent airflow. Even the mesh screen is so fine that absolutely no wind will flow through it. Simply put, a great tent with bombproof ability and potential."

"I bought my Tiros in 1993 and have spent more than 100 nights in it, from beachside to 14,000 feet. This tent is absolutely bombproof. I'm looking at gettting another one but they are no longer manufactured by Sierra Designs. I wouldn't trade my Tiros for any other tent."

"Awesome tent. I camped in a snowstorm in the presidentials with the temp dipping down to approx -10 F and winds around 45mph. It held up great. A real bomber tent, and comfortably spacious for 2 mountaineers and some equipment."
