Description
This trail is actually two loops : a shorter 4.4 miler and a longer 8.4 which contains most of the shorter loop. The trail itself is pretty easy going. You walk around a little channel on the lake and pass by some impressive sinkholes. Apparently, bald eagles have a reputation of camping out near the small lake overlook during winter, but they were absent when I visited. A great day-hike! There are also 5 campsites you can use to make it an overnighter.

Directions to Hike
To get there, leave Fayetteville on highway 45 east and take the War Eagle turnoff left. This road will end on Hwy 12; take right and look for the trailhead a mile on the left.
