"Nice spring, but there was a huge resident wood rat that kept me awake all night. No signs of snakes in October 2001."

"Small shelter, we were run out by wasps and bees. Looked like there had been a lot of trouble with snakes as well. Good water and tent spot. "

"This was one of the worst shelters I've ever camped at, I didn't stay in the shelter due to the fact that rats are here was carved or painted on the wall of the shelter. I'm not sure of the exact warning. I pitched my tent. Funny there are lots of good spots to pitch a tent around that shelter."

"No snakes or other creatures in April of 2006. Looks like a lot of work has been done to make the area less snake friendly; shelter was raised, chicken wire installed behind rock wall, etc. Not a bad place to spend the night."

"Swept clean and well maintained. No sign of either rats or snakes. "

"Old shelter built by CCC. Copperheads in and around shelter due to high mouse population according to warning signs we saw the next morning (came in at dark). We did not see any snakes but the weather was cool. I would pitch a tent if going through in the summer months."
