"Fantastic views from the rocks behind the shelter. Shelter well maintained but due to it's location you have to rock hop to get in and out of the shelter. After a rain its a boggy hole around the shelter. If the weather is good find one of several tent sites nearby. Don't miss hiking to the summit of Mt Rogers, it's well worth the short hike."

"When clear, enjoy great views from the rocks behind this 2-story shelter. Thomas Knob is in the shadow of Mt. Rogers. Deer and flies are common here, as well as mice. Nice spot for lunch or overnighting - but tent/hammock backpackers will need to walk a bit further to the north to set up camp. I have stayed here in all seasons and water is always available."

    "Solar Privy OK. Water suspect."
