"With bunks for 96 in 8 or more bunk rooms, this is the largest AMC Hut in the Whites. The dining room should have great views of the valley, but it will be socked in most evenings. With all the people it was very loud. Cost is $86/night (2006) for non-AMC members, or thru-hikers can do work-for-stay if there is room."

"Also known as "Lakes of the Crowds Hut", this hut on the slopes of Mt. Washington above treeline sleeps 96 in 3-high bunks. Space is tight, and the hut is popular for weekend hikers (several of whom packed up bottles of wine which looked very good after a week in the woods). A trail to the summit of Mt. Monroe is just outside, perhaps a mile roundtrip. The summit of Mt. Washington looms nearby when the clouds break."
