Description
a fairly rugged, 1 day, all downhill hike from the top of Laguna Mountain in S.E. San Diego county to the scorching desert. A wide diversity of plant life and terrain, ilnterspersed with thick brush, poison oak, and rocky climbs. The trail's not well marked and we got MAJOR lost, despite a map, compass, and pedometer. Waterfalls during the winter & spring, none in the summer. I'd go again on a cooler day & with better preparation (long pants for the stinging nettle & poison oak), if it wasn't for the occassional, not-distant-enough pops of gunfire.

Directions to Hike
From hiway 8 east, take Sunrise Highway (about 20 miles out of downtown) north to the green "mile 33.3" marker. Park on the left side of the road next the sign for Lucky 5 Ranch. The trailhead begins as a graded dirt road to the southwest.
