Description
This hike is mainly along the ridges of the Eddy Mountains. Families and day hikers as well as serious backpackers enjoy the beauty of these lakes. There are 3 lakes, the biggest of the 3--middle Deadfall--is the prettiest. Yet, lower Deadfall and Upper Deadfall offer great views and excellent swimming for weary hikers. The hike itself traverses a portion of the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). It is about 2 1/2 miles one-way to the lakes. During summer months, the trail gets quite busy. Go in the fall, before the snow or mid-week and you will be by yourself!

Directions to Hike
Take I-5 North to the Gazelle/Edgewood/Stewart Springs Rd exit. After exiting go left under the freeway and turn right on the access road. About 1/2 mile is Stewart Springs Rd. Turn left here and go until the road makes a hard right. You can't miss it! It now becomes Forest Rd 17(marked). Stay on this road for about 10-12 miles or until you reach the summit. Here, to the left is a parking area (you can't miss this either!). Park here. Take the PCT (which starts just South of the parking area. (You can't miss it, there is a PCT marker here). Go on the PCT for about 2 miles and you will cross a stream (not the first little one you come to in a mile or so but the larger one).A few feet more and you will see a sign to go left or right. Right takes you to Deadfall Meadow. Go left and walk about 1/4 mile up hill and take an obvious spur trail to the right and down to Middle DeadFall Lake. Good campsites all over the place with fire pits etc. You will not be dissapointed on this hike!
