Description
The Hillsborough State Park is located some 12 miles east of Tampa on State Hwy 301. The Park contains RV camping and picnic areas. There is a series of smaller trails the meander around the area of the Hillsborough River. None of the trails are difficult. Almost all of the Florida trails are best reserved for fall through early spring since these can be very warm and the bugs (read vast swarms of mosquitos) can be overwhelming. One other caution is to call ahead to determine the water levels since none of the trails may be available when the river is high. These are good beginner trails and work well for children.

Directions to Hike
From Tampa, take I-4 towards Orlando. From I-4, East bound take Exit 7 (be careful of the merges) and go North on US 301 for 14 miles, the park will be on your left-hand side.
