the backpack trail
The Backpack trail at Yellow River State Forest is amazing to say the least! Whether you want a day hike or you want to submerge yourself in nature for a week it's there. It has four primitive backpacking campgrounds that are "FREE" and two large modern campgrounds and two equestrian campgrounds for a fee, 176 campsites in all. I went during the week and only saw two other solo backpackers. Did I say amazing already? Without a means for water filtration water is only found at head quarters unless you boil water from the paint creek but with corn fields surrounding the park on all sides I wasn't comfortable doing so, as I was worried about pesticides. Maybe I'm just too overcautious but I'm also sure that I wont drink poisonous water. Did I say Amazing?
