Description
A strenuous hike, as described. However, I would suggest hiking up the Falling Waters trail, because of its steep and rocky nature that warrents a difficult downhill. This also allows you to stop at the Greenleaf AMC hut on your way down after one of the more rocky parts. I would have to say, in my opinion, the views from the Franconia Ridge on a clear day are the best on the East Coast. Beleive me, I've been around.

Directions to Hike
From Boston or Montpilier. Go north from Boston (or south from Montpilier) on Route 93. Drive until you come to the Franconia Notch Parkway. If you are traveling south, get off at Laffayette Place campground, and park in the lot behind the hiker hut. If you are going north, there is a lot for trailhead parking on that side.
