AT
Pine Grove Furnace State Park to Caledonia State Park, thru Micheaux State Forest, North to South Hike. This a great weekend hike for those who are looking for a hike of easy to moderate difficulty. Its a great spring warm up hike to flex those winter muscles. Plenty of water with three shelter/camping areas along the way. There's also a few primitive campsites along the trail. Day 1 head to the Birch Run Shelter area, about half way. Day two head for the Quarry Gap Shelters, even thought they are only about two miles from the Trail head at Caledonia, you've gotta spend the night. Without question the best shelters on the AT that I've seen. Hats off to the shelter host! After a great stay its about an hour out of Caledonia. Top it off with a donut and coffee from Dunkin Donuts (a few miles down Rt. 30 from the park).
