Description
Great first 1 mile of hike. Variable altitude and great views of the lake. Excellent chance of deer encounters. Hike flattens out after the first 1.5 miles to grasslands. Primitive camping area is suitable. Beware of ticks. Found 2 ticks on me while out and 2 more once I returned home. Also beware of a giant raccoon. If you don\'t hang your food you won\'t have it anymore. He is well fed and you will hear atleast 1 scream from a fellow camper in the area per night. Sights are secluded enough to feel solitude. Very little water on trail so byob. Extremely friendly park staff and locals. Be sure to check out the rock climbing.(not located on the trail system)

Directions to Hike
From the DFW area, go west on 20. Simply follow signs to Mineral Wells. Approx. 7 miles west of town.
