Lone Peak (Via Bells Canyon)
The hike begins at the base of bells canyon. The canyon is just one south of Little Cottonwood canyon. We parked our truck just below the mouth of little cottonwood canyon and hiked over the ridge. From there a trail takes you up the bottom. The trail becomes rocky and steep in some sections. Along the way two waterfalls are past that are some of the best along the wasatch front. Lots of wild flowers and great views can be had. The trail heads up until reaching bells canyon reservoir. (we camped just below it) The next day we did a scramble over rocks and snow up and behind lone peak. We then made our way up a very steep slope to a knife sharp ridge line. This was followed up to the peak. The hike was sometimes a little spooky. The top of the peak is increadible! Its only about the size of a large kitchen table, with sheer drop offs on three sides. Went back the same way we came. This was an overnight camp. It could be done in a day with day packs for someone in very good shape. Its also not the easiest way to the top, but the most senic route by far.
