The best analogy for Trail Talk is a campfire. People come and talk about a little of everything. Most of the times the conversations are very enjoyable, but other times they can get offensive and you just want to leave. The following Terms of Participation are written to set the boundaries of what is not acceptable in Trail Talk.

Posts of the following nature are not acceptable in Trail Talk:

• Posts that encourage the use of illegal substances
• Posts of a strong sexual nature
• Posts that demean a country, nation, religion, or particular group of people
• Posts that express physical or verbal threats towards another poster
• Many posts of the same message within a short period of time on a single thread
• Creation of multiple off topic threads within a short time period
• Purposefully trying to mislead other posters through the use of a spoofed username

All remarks posted to Trail Talk are considered the thoughts and opinions of the original poster and not thebackpacker.com. Posts that are libelous or purposefully misleading will not be tolerated. If a post includes libelous or purposefully misleading information, the poster takes full responsibility for any subsequent actions caused by the post, and relieves thebackpacker.com website of any wrong-doing or liability.

Please respect all users of thebackpacker.com and act accordingly. Please treat Trail Talk as a face-to-face conversation. If the message you are posting would not be used in a face-to-face conversation, do not post it.

It is up to the discretion of thebackpacker.com to evaluate and act upon posters who violate these Terms of Participation.

This includes, but is not limited to, personal information such as names, addresses, occupation, website addresses, email addresses or other information that aids in the discovery of personal information. If you do not want to share any of this information, DO NOT POST IT. Once the information is posted to thebackpacker.com, the original poster is held accountable for all ramifications thereafter. Posting of personal information that is not deemed public information will not be tolerated and the offending post will be removed.
