Savage Gulf (not this weekend but next)View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 1 of 1 messages posted.
Savage Gulf (not this weekend but next) “My plans are to drive down early Saturday morning, and be at the Savage Gulf Ranger Station by 9am. Since there is another TTA hike on Sunday, I plan on camping Saturday night, and hiking the Stone Door and Greeter Falls hike on Sunday. (Some people plan to do only the Saturday day hike, and this is perfectly acceptable.) Directions From Nashville: Take I-40 east to the exit for Hwy 111 south near Cookeville. Take Hwy 111 south, turning southwest onto Hwy 399 at Cagle (south of Spencer and north of Dunlap). At 5.5 miles turn right at the sign for Savage Gulf State Natural Area, and park at the Ranger Station. From Knoxville: Take I-40 west to the exit for Hwy 127 south near Crossville. Take Hwy 127 south, turning north (right) onto Hwy 8 just before Dunlap, and turn left onto Hwy 399 at Cagle, following it to the Savage Gulf State Natural Area, and park at the Ranger Station. From Chattanooga: Take Hwy 127 or Hwy 28 north to Dunlap, and continue to the turn left onto Hwy 399 at Cagle, following it to the Savage Gulf State Natural Area and park at the Ranger Station. Another alternate route for Nashville/Chattanooga: Take I-24 to the exit for Hwy 41 near Tracy City. Take Hwy 56 north from Tracy City and turn right onto Hwy 399, and follow it to the Savage Gulf State Natural Area and park at the Ranger Station. NOTE: If you need to carpool, please let me know so I can suggest folks who are from your area.” 8:49:46 AM 9/07/01
