“Hey, just got back from National Guard drill. We did some patroling in a huge dry lake bed near Fallon, NV. It was very beautiful, all the colors on the mountains at sunrise were awesome. Slept out under the stars and ate MRE's for breakfast.
I have never crossed a dry lake bed before, and it was great. I know it is not exactly like regular bping trips, I usually dont use camo paint on my face around Lake Tahoe, but it was great to see some new ground.”

“Bears?”

“Sorry, no water for the bears to drink. There were six other soldiers and one of them snored like a bear.”

Did you practice asking for directors or water in Afghani or Uzbeki or any other Central Asian languages that might be mission relevant?

And only 7 of you? Are you with one of those sneaky-type small units (not counting the snorer, of course)?”

“Yes, we are sort of a sneaky unit, but what can you expect we are in the Nevada Guard. Alien languages are our strong point. HAHAHA. We were just training on patrol procedeures, very common stuff. I prefer small unit work to all the throngs of soldiers anyway.”
