capacity and new shipments are not needed. However, ABC stressed that blood
will be needed later over the next few weeks and months. It asks donor
nationwide to call to schedule appointments for in the next two to eight
weeks to avoid future blood shortages. Also, New Jersey government officials
are urging hospitals collecting blood to shift to a "sustain and maintain"
strategy, the New Jersey Hospital Association said. "The rush of emergency
donations is raising concerns that blood inventories in the coming days and
weeks may suffer. Hospitals are urged to stagger collections and pace the
blood supply." .The AHA, in its statement today, noted that while current

“I know whole blood right now is important but keep in mind also that plasma is also needed. they make medicines for burn victims from plasma. I have been giving plasma for years it is easy to give your not all tired after giveing because they give the blood cells back.”
