Airlines?

“I'd like to know why the cockpit doors are open before the flight, during the flight, and as I depart the plane. That door should be shut & locked before everyone boards, and until they disembark.

The airplanes should be reconstructed so that the pilots do not have to leave the cockpit during the flight. Just wondering.

“Heard an interview with a very experienced retired pilot. He said there should be a sturdy door that the pilots can lock from inside the cockpit to keep hijackers out. The doors they have are easy to break through. He said this has been a suggestion since the hijacking waves of the 50's and 60's, but nothing has ever been done.”

The truth of the matter is, LH & I have flown numerous times, and as far as I can remember, everytime I enter the plane the cockpit door is open, during the flight I will see the pilot -WITH- the cockpit door open it may only be a short time but it is still unlocked, and then when I depart the plane the cockpit door is again open and that is a fact.

There is a definite serious problem here.....
I would rather have a safe flight than see the pilot.

“I do see cockpit doors open when I enter and leave the plane. Do many planes get hijacked before they're pushed away from the terminal?

I have very rarely seen the cockpit door open during a flight, and even then it's just long enough to let one of the crew out to pee.”

“Why not a separate door for the pilots, on the outside of the plane? Their own bathroom and completly separate from the passengers. What's to stop the pilots from unlocking the doors and letting in the hijackers if they threaten to kill hostages? What if they are actually killing hostages one a minute???

Or is that really a kneejerk reaction on my part? I think I'd still like a completely separate compartment. There are far more hijackers than deranged pilots, I think.”

“The airlines just issued new rules for knives: no knives regardless of how small the blade. Unsure where can openers and scissors fall. I may just get a v'nox sparten and cut the knife blades off for air travel than send checked baggage through for one item.

“Pilot's lawsuit alleges airliners rigged with explosives

Field McConnell, a pilot for Northwest Airlines, has filed a lawsuit charging that many commercial airliners are rigged with explosives that can be remotely detonated. He refuses to fly until such devices are removed. McConnell's claim is seemingly given credence by none other than Boeing's vice-president, who tacitly admitted the fact in a speech last year.

"The lawsuit, filed last week, claims Boeing Co. and the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) can't assure him that B747-400 planes are safe. McConnell, who is the process of seeking an early retirement from Northwest, claims the planes are rigged by Boeing and can be remotely detonated," reports the West Central Tribune .”

Actually, fewer than 1% of commercial flights have an Air Marshal on board. They are investigating that little problem right now.
