Pictures from Abroad
I haven't read all the posts from all the threads, so I don't know if anyone has already posted this.

This really made me cry:

RE: Pictures from Abroad
Great site Arclite, thanks for posting it. Besides these countries showing their feelings for this tragedy for what is was, many were really touched from having visited the WTC on visits to the U.S., and for the loses of friends and loved ones that also may have been working there or visiting at the time of the attack.

I do wander about that pic of Arafat. I saw it on tv. Can you imagine getting this guys blood, lol, that's if it ever made it to America. You know that guy taking his blood did his damned best to get the needle in the vein on the first time he tried, lol.

Arclite, thanks for sharing this with us. It's a heart-warming(yet deeply saddening) reminder that human life is precious no matter where we live.

LH... I can't believe you just said that about Arafat. Would receiving his blood (if it meant a difference between life & death) make someone "less" American in your eyes???

RE: Pictures from Abroad
Medic girl, I think the reference to Arafat's blood would have to do with safety of the blood. I had the same thought. Not all countries have the same standards for screening blood donors that we do.

RE: Pictures from Abroad
medic girl, Arafat really isn't on our side. For him to give blood is weird enough, to get it would be weirder. If it were to save someones live, that would be great, but I still think it's weird.

I wasn't implying at all that someone would be less American to receive it. I don't know how you came to that conclusion. I think everyone here should stop trying to nit pick with each other.

RE: Pictures from Abroad
Thanks for the link. It certainly made me tear up.

This from an e-mail we received from a Greek friend in Athens:

"What can I say? I am shocked like everyone else. Who, do you think, is behind this? Is some intelligent opinion being formed in the States?"

His last question is a tougher one than it might seem.

Someone complaining about Clinton getting his photo taken in New York as a photo opportunity. Arafat giving blood to Americans...now that's a photo op.
BTW, if I'm in need of blood, I'll take his blood (after it is deemed OK!!).
