A day at the range.
Deer season is fast approaching so I took the chance to head to our local range for some fine tuning of my rifle. The weather was great, the crowd was not too big. I was dismayed however to see someone bring out a GIANT stack of target bearing the likeness of Osama Bin-Laden. They were quickly passed out,the remainder were put in the target bin. A DNR range officer actually wrote on one "wanted dead, not alive" and posted the "target" on the bulletin board. A kid actually asked his dad" can we put of the picture of the Arab next?" So after checking my target ( Look out bambi) I was walking back to my bench. I overheard to guys in their young 20's saying" man,I blew his head off" and similar comments. I listened and decide to speak. I told them that with their shooting prowess and obvious patrotism that they should head to the recruiters. They looked shocked, I repeated myself and added that they really ought to put some actions behind their words. They shut up and walked off. I was sorely disappointed.

I received a fax that had bin Laden in the center of the target. It also included some references to 'American sportsmen' blah blah blah. At the bottom was the address for the Afghan Embassy.

The idea was to shoot the target and mail it to the Afghan Embassy. Ya gotta learn to read the fine print, hyper.

I shot his eyes out and then put one in the center of that giant nose.

RE: A day at the range.
Bacpac, I guess the print was so fine that it WASNT EVEN THERE!

IMHO this kind of stuff is misguided patriotism. Yes Bin Laden is evil and should be terminated, however this seems like a junior high class version of propaganda. That young kid maybe 8-9yrs old wasnt sent a message about global terror,he was taught a message of hate towards Middle Easterners. The pathetic part was most of the guys who were shooting up these pics could'nt run a mile let a long get through basic to fight a war. This type of behaviour is a disagrace to those who have served and those who have died. PUT UP OR SHUT UP!

Take it easy hyper. There are already enough groups who want to legislate parenting skills. A few more rednecks are not going to make much of a difference.

I live in a small town. My son returns from bootcamp next week. I am trying to arrange for the Principal to let my son make a speech before the football game. This is the same Principal who nearly censored my son's High School graduation speech. Maybe my son can convince a few of these rednecks to join the cause. Let's face it, this next war as were the last two is going to be fought by the rednecks and the niggers. The PC wimps are only going to complain.

I don't see anything wrong with those kinda targets. I think it would help ease frustration. I'd rather shoot Bin-Lidan than a deer. Paper or real!

Whoa, Temprat, not all hunters are like that. It's just chest beating...heard it all on the streets, grocery and video stores etc. from accountants to zoologists. Everybody's frustrated because we don't know who the killers are.

Bacpac, I am NOT trying to legislate parenting skills. But c'mon.

BTW I hope your son is allowed to speak at the school. I reckon that may motivate many to enlist, and we need that...now more than ever.

Temprat I dont know you but I dislike you already.

The chest beating will subside as soon as we find out who the killers are. Then the brow beaters will take over.

I am really getting sick of hunters being considered as lowlifes just because we know where our food comes from and don't always buy it in shrinkwrap! My knuckles don't scrape the ground when I walk (much). Seriously though, the same thing happens every time some thug takes it out on us, there have been more Hussain,Gaddafy, and Khomeni targets than I'd ever want to count. I think it comes from the frustration of not being able to really do anything to those responsible, and don't try to tell me anyone hasn't gotten inventive about their punishments (I favor gibbetting them and hanging them on the wall of the un building as a reminder to other wannabee's that this will not be tolerated by anyone, ever).

I'm waiting to see one of those plastic men's urinal screen-like things (so cigarrette butts and whatnot don't flush down the drain) with Bin-Laden's face on it.

I remember seeing one with So-dam Insane's likeness on one, and to this day wish I would've grabbed and kept it.

RE: A day at the range.
This reminds me of something that happened at work during the gulf war. We have a very diverse department, including a lot of middle-easterners of all types. At one point a little feud was going on between a person from Iraq and another guy who is American (originally form North Carolina, but I don't think that was relevant). The feud was basically over competency, but eroded to name-calling and harrassment. Anyway, the American was an accomplished marksman. He brought in a Saddam Hussein target from a shooting match and put it up in his office facing toward the door of the Iraqi's office. It really upset the Iraqi.

Here is the real rub. The Iraqi is really a Kurd from Iraq. He and his famiy are in exile from Iraq and lead some America-based Anti-Hussein organizations. His brother and he were interviewed by newspapers and such during the Persian Gulf war and provided information on how terrible Saddam Hussein is. He told me stories about how Saddam Hussein operates that would curl your hair.

My point is that we cannot judge people's beliefs and attitudes based on their appearance or ethnicity. Another example is one of my best friends who is Egyptian. He is a former Coptic priest and I don't know anyone personally who hates Muslems more that he does!!

Regarding hunters, they are people too. I am not into hunting personally, but that is how my brother-in-law provided meat for his family for many years when they lived in Montana. Here in California we have "wanna be" hunters. They buy some hunting gear and go out and commit unsafe acts against humanity and nature. It is not like in some of the less populated states where most hunters know what they are doing. They still tell a story at our ranger station about a guy that brought back a dead cow to the ranger station thinking he had bagged a dear.

How the hell did he move a COW?

Fire away boys!

I think the mailing of targets to the Afgan Embassy is a cute idea.

These radical jackals are emotionally sensitive I think.
They are basically bed-wetters who mistreat women as a cultural norm.

Sadism semms to be a way of life with the power-hungry in that part of the world.

While I don't think this sort of monkey-shines would bother the likes of Castro, but these other boys seem to take insult VERY seriously.

Sending rubber turds to the Afgan Embassy would be a nice touch too!
Anything that those dudes find offensive should be considered as long as it is legal or you don't include your return address.

Homosexual pornography, Christian bibles, bottles of liquor, SMALL size rubbers(condoms), rubber wangs, Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage, country hams, or anything else you think might share the worm feeling.

Hey, Christmas is coming!!!
