A very good weekend
It was a refreshing bit of goodness.
I visited the Superior Hiking Trail for the first time.

The only thing that could possibly want for more is that the trees were just on the verge of wanting to change color, so these GEORGOUS

{OOPS)

GEORGOUS vistas, in another two weeks, will be a 30 mile symphony of color, but this weekend were green. And hey, that ain't all bad.

I went with a girl I've been dating for a month and a half--she's stunningly beautiful, as sweet as they come, and on night #2 made steak, carrots, mashed potatoes, and salad, with a nice red wine. She's an avid backpacker and kayaker.

I had a very very nice 4 day weekend, and it came at a much needed time.

Thanks fir the info, Tommy. I leave for the SHT Fri, and hope to see some color.

How are the creeks? Is it generally dry, wet, or in-between?

I had a good one myself. I climbed another 14'er (Mt. Democrat). It was so theraputic. Halfway to the summit, it started snowing really hard. By the time I made it to my car, the sun was shining. What a great day. Plus, I went with a hottie!!!!

Mountains and tight bums. What a great combination.

LS--water was never a problem, but I was surprised to see so many dry creek beds what with the recent rain. But on the up side, trail is plenty muddy in parts...

The trail was also very vacant, but I imagine as soon as the color changes, that will change.

RE: A very good weekend
i took a friend on his first backpacking trip.

we went to blood mountain and had an excellent, crisp saturday morning to wake up to. we spent the evening before sampling hot tea and looking out at all of the towns, filled with people watching the news.

the most amazing thing is that there was no one up there, but us. he saw two other guys, but they were gone before i saw them.

he saw about 10 deer and a tiny little black mouse. it was only about 2 inches, tail and all. sarabelle would have loved to sniff its little butt, but i think that it was too fast, even for her.
