i almost accidentally did a dine and dash while thru-hiking the AT. I walked out of the pizza hut in erwin, tn and forgot to pay. the manager was right on top of it and ran out after me. makes me wonder if he was watching us like a hawk, expecting one of us to try it. im sure i would have remembered within a few minutes. its slightly insulting to be thought of like that. i suppose some other hikers in the past have done that

I actually felt bad for the mix up. I did not even look at the receipt as I took it out of the envelope we have been keeping flood receipts in. I forgot the I had purchaced 3 items from the store.

I would imagine dine & dash is more common at less expensive establishments.

Still, the last one I saw was during a festival. The bill was @$150. "Lucky" for the server the policy was half the bill. That was about half her tips for the day.

HEY! GREASYGRIMYGOPHERGUTSSTOMPER! I'm a peep like him. COME ON! What the heck man!

yeah it's too bad we're a society where if you look like you haven't eaten, showered or shaven then you're suspected as somebody who might be down on your luck and try stealing food

ATM
I pulled up to the ATM one time and there was 100.00 in the machine. The receipt was in the machine so I saved the money and took it to the bank the next day. They said they couldn't really trace it but would take it. I probably gave the teller 100.00 tip but it was out of my hands.

Kudos to you WK. I know so many folks who would rationalize the situation and pocket the loot. Its interesting to see the price that people put on their honesty/integrity. If I am gonna sell myself out and be a thief, you'll know. A whole Brinks truck is gonna disappear.

on my way home from the smokies today I found a fanny pack in a restroom bathroom. It was full of crap: 2 visa cards, a drivers license, temporary store credit card, cell phone, glasses, 2 set of car keys, and some other small stuff. at first I just looked and asked around, but no one lost a fanny pack.

I have to be honest, I never found something that important and I didn't know what the hell to do with it. If I would've lost that I for sure would've had a panic attack.

Anyway I finally asked the working attendant there, but he looked like he escaped out of prison, so I kept the fanny pack...

hahahahaha, of course I didn't keep it! I started to seach the fanny pack for phone numbers [that dang phone didn't have one single phone number in it, well or I didn't know how to find it] finally found a hotel reservation that had her phone number on it.

I drove the pack to her and got a happy thank you.

Can I now demand some GOOD Karma coming my way? I demand some good karma dammit...I sure could use some!

Gee Zodie, ya found a lady's pack in the men's room?

Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm.....

Many years ago I was riding north along Route 19/Cabot Trail toward Cheticamp, Cape Breton Island, NS.
My pal Mike suddenly slowed and pulled over and swung his bike south roaring back about a quarter mile.....WTF, mate?
Mike had spotted a wallet in the road and scooped it up.
It belonged to a young woman in Halifax who had passed us on her way south.
We hauled ass a few miles hoping to catch her but, nothin' doin'.
When we got to Cheticamp he put in the Royal Post(ha ha, Gremlin!!). There was $100 or more and other important stuff.

Well, I think that set our karma up pretty good.
We spent the rest of the summer and another 14,000 miles on the road and lived to tell about it.

I left my wallet on my car roof once. Believe it or not, Birch found it in the middle of the road, about a half mile from home. I think it was good karma coming back that time. It had been run over quite a few times, it's got character now.

I left a six pack of beer on my car roof once. It didn't fare so well....
:)

Like a dummy one morning, Ana and I were dashing into Hannaford to get school snacks, I grabbed cash and keys and we ran in. Of course, I never lock my doors. Got snacks, ran back out, drop Ana off at school. Later on, I'm looking for my pocketbook. duh!
I never carry cash, but this time I had $200+ in it.

I got a call a few days later from someone who said they found it on the side of the road a couple of towns over. I went to pick it up - no cash, but everything else was still there.

I saw a lady in Virginia stick her car seated infant on the roof of her vehicle. She had a complete mental fart, got inside and proceed to drive away. Fortunately she accelerated very slowly and the screams from the neighborhood got her attention.

Whoa!!

Having an infant on one's hands can frazzle and distract even the most conscientious of parents.

Wow...I remember when my Catma got runover by someone's karma....(old joke)

then there is

Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln's son, Robert, was once saved by John Wilkes Booth's brother, Edwin, from possible very serious injury or death. The incident happened at a railroad station in Jersey City in 1863 or 1864. Robert was traveling from New York to Washington. In 1909 Robert gave the following account of the rescue:

Kinda wierd huh?

Yeah, there is such a thing as karma. Years ago I had some kids take my wallet out of my pants in the weight room. I had left the locker unlocked while I hit the shower. Well they took off. I cancelled my cards, had to get my ID and badge replaced (real pain). Thankfully they threw everything away and only kept my Badge.
Two weeks later junior is trucking down the road when the Gendarmarie pulls him for speeding. He does the little cool badge flash to one of my buddies. The cop laughs and informs him he knows that badge number and it is not Junior.
LOL, Junior gets down to the jail and for what is essentially a misdemenor he gets in a fight with the processing people. Long and short of it...he is BUBBA's Dancing partner for a year in the State Pen.

Fox, did it involve two trains travelling towards each other, one moving at 35 mph, and the other at 45 mph?
