Creeping Death
Slaves
Hebrews born to serve, to the pharaoh
Heed
To his every word, live in fear
Faith
Of the unknown one, the deliverer
Wait
Something must be done, four hundred years

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Now
Let my people go, land of goshen
Go
I will be with thee, bush of fire
Blood
Running red and strong, down the nil
Plague
Darkness three days long, hail to fire

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first born man
Die by my hand
I creep across the land
Killing first born man

I
Rule the midnight air the destroyer
Born
I shall soon be there, deadly mass
I
Creep the steps and flood final darkness
Blood
Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass

So let it be written
So let it be done
I'm sent here by the chosen one
So let it be written
So let it be done
To kill the first born pharaoh son
I'm creeping death

RE: Creeping Death
Cool song.
Kinda cool since you posted it on Roshashanah.
It would be really cool if you posted it on Passover.
Thats what it's kinda about anyway.

Best trail song is "Wherever I May Roam"

Hey, if you like 'creepy'...

The Second Coming

William Butler Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction; the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand;
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches toward Bethlehem to be born?

RE: Creeping Death
Here's another Passover song...

Thief

I am a thief, I am a murderer
Walking up this lonely hill
What have I done? No, I don't remember
No one knows just how I feel
And I know my time is coming soon

It's been so long, such a long time
Since I've lived with peace and rest
Now I am here, my destination
I guess things work for the best
And I know my time is coming soon

Who is this man? This man beside me
They call the King of the Jews
They don't believe that He's the Messiah
But somehow, I know it's true

They laugh at Him in mockery
And they beat Him 'til He bleeds
And they nail Him to the rugged cross
They raise Him, they raise Him up next to me

My time has come and I'm slowly fading
I deserve what I receive
Jesus when you are in your kingdom
Could you please, please remember me?

And He looks at me still holding on
The tears falling from His eyes
And He says I tell the truth
Today, you will be with Me in Paradise

And I know that my time, yes, my time is coming soon

And I know Paradise, Paradise is coming soon

At the risk of starting another flame war, would you please explain the link between your lyricist's statement of calvary and the last of the ten plagues as stated by Metallica. The usual retoric will get you ignored.

RE: Creeping Death
On second thought, forget I asked. I gotta learn to keep my mouth shut. Try this on for size.

(whispered)
...and the road becomes my bride
...and the road becomes my bride
I have stripped of all but pride
So in her I do confide
And she keeps me satisfied
Gives me all I need

...and with dust in throat I crave
Only knowledge will I save
To the game you stay a slave
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will
Yea

But I'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll redefine anywhere
Anywhere I roam
Where I lay my head is home

(whispered)
...and the earth becomes my throne
...and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
Under wandering stars I've grown
By myself but not alone
I ask no one

...and my ties are severed clean
The less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But I'll take my time anywhere
I'm free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll never mind anywhere
Anywhere I roam
Where I lay my head is home

But i'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind
And I'll take my find anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

But I'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
And I'll redefine anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

Carved upon my stone
My body lie, but still I roam
Wherever I may roam
Wherever I may roam
Wherever I may roam
Wherever I may roam
Wherever I may wander
Wander
Wander
Wherever I may roam

RE: Creeping Death
LOL! Okay, I'll do my best. 8)

"Lambs blood painted door, I shall pass "

Goes to mean the Angel of the Lord passes over the protected children of Israel to destory the first born of Egypt.

A murderer and thief was protected from destruction (passed over) through his trust in the Messiah.

The lamb's blood is metaphorical to Christ's blood.

RE: Creeping Death
I like Godsmack?s music and energy but the content is a bit bent on the negative (why does Sully want everyone to ?get away?, ?get back?, ?keep the f#$k away? for anyhow? LOL!). One thing that just ruins a band is when they first come out they have this great pissed off energy and power that comes right through their music. Then it happens?they get the money. The grunge bands were the biggest victims of success. Pearl Jam had so much intensity those first two albums but it?s gone now. Thank the stars Kurt Gobang died before Nirvana slipped into mediocrity. I saw the Behind the Music on Twisted Sister and Dee Snider was talking about how he was sitting by the pool of his $4 million house trying to come up with the next pissed off-rebel-anthem song and not a thing would come to him cause he had it made.

If you love Metalica check these guys out. It may not knock your sox off but it will at least loosen up your shoe strings.

tahoe--"'Spiritus Mundi' is Latin, meaning 'spirit' or 'soul of the world.' According to the Norton Anthology of English Literature...the phrase refers to 'the spirit or soul of the universe, with which all individual souls are connected through the 'Great Memory,' which Yeats held to be a universal subconscious in which the human race preserves its past memories. It is thus a source of symbolic images for the poet.'"

RE: Creeping Death
"H" by Tool

What's coming through is alive.
What's holding up is a mirror.
But what's singing songs is a snake
Looking to turn this piss to wine.

They're both totally void of hate,
But killing me just the same.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.
Considerately.

Venomous voice, tempts me,
Drains me, bleeds me,
Leaves me cracked and empty.
Drags me down like some sweet gravity.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,
And considerately killing me.

Without the skin,
Beneath the storm,
Under these tears
The walls came down.

And the snake is drowned and
As I look in his eyes,
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of those times.

I could have cried then.
I should have cried then.

And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I have died
and will die.
It's all right.
I don't mind.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,

And considerately killing me.

RE: Creeping Death
"My son, ask for thyself another kingdom,
For that which I leave is to small for thee."

Near to the East, in a part of ancient Greece,
In an ancient land called Macedonia,
Was born a son to Philip of Macedon,
The legend his name was Alexander.

At the age of nineteen, he became the Macedon king,
And swore to free all of Asia Minor,
By the Aegian Sea in 334 BC,
He utterly beat the armies of Persia.

Chorus:
Alexander the Great,
His name struck fear into hearts of men,
Alexander the Great,
Became a legend 'mongst mortal men.

King Darius the third, Defeated fled Persia,
The Scythians fell by the river Jaxartes,
Then Egypt fell to the Macedon king as well,
And he founded the city called Alexandria.

By the Tigris river, he met King Darius again,
And crushed him again in the battle of Arbela,
Entering Babylon and Susa, treasures he found,
Took Persepolis, the capital of Persia.

Chorus:
Alexander the Great,
His name struck fear into hearts of men,
Alexander the Great,
Became a god amongst mortal men.

A Phrygian King had bound a chariot yoke,
And Alexander cut the "Gordion knot",
And legend said that who untied the knot,
He would become the master of Asia.

Helonism he spread far and wide,
The Macedonian learned mind,
Their culture was a western way of life,
He paved the way for Christianity.

Marching on, Marching on.

The battle weary marching side by side,
Alexander's army line by line,
They wouldn't follow him to India,
Tired of the combat, pain and the glory.

Chorus:
Alexander the Great,
His name struck fear into hearts of men,
Alexander the Great,
He died of fever in Babylon.

From an AP story: "Radio disc jockeys were being warned against playing songs that might seem in poor taste. The nation's largest chain of radio stations distributed a long list of questionable song titles, ranging from Black Sabbath's "Highway to Hell" to Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire."
