Virginia, Sept. 27th.
Anyone interested in a 2 nighter in the Saint Mary's Wilderness. I am planning on getting there late Thursday evening (8:30-9:00) and heading home on Saturday or Sunday depending on others that may be interested. There are a number of possible loops or point to point of about any milages you'd want. I'm open to whatever (high miles or low)if anyone is interested.

bpbaby, there are several points where a body could jump on. The route could be planned accordingly. The wilderness is 20-25 miles south of Shenendoah N.P. in the George Washington National Forest. The Blue Ridge Parkway borders it.

Sounds OK to me if you don't mind a slow hiker tag-along - email me at hog_on_ice on hotmail and lets see what we can arrange. I also will be trying out some new gear - if it really doesn't work out I might have to bag it early but so far it looks OK. I can probably get Friday off as well as 1/2 day Thursday so I could easily be there before you - I will need to see what the boss says but usually not a problem.

How far from Baltimore is the Saint Mary's Wilderness?
I've never heard of that one.
Where are you located?

My 15 year old son and I are planning to go to Roaring Plains.....near Dolly Sods.....Thursday evening, Sept 27.

I live just west of Richmond, VA.
The Saint Marys Widerness is 23 miles south of I-64 on the Blue Ridge Parkway (23 miles south of the southern end of Shenandoah N.P.)

Cool

That may be closer than Cranberry Wilderness for me.

If I had to guess, I'd say about 250 miles from here.

Nice place, huh?
