ECT Question

“Being new on this list I've got what might be a silly question.

What does ECT stand for? I see it attached to several threads about group hikes, but haven't a clue what it means.

“I think it is "East Coast Trekkers," an informal sub-set of the people here on this board. They get together apparently a couple of times a year for a hike.”

“If a group of us hikes in the eastern half of the U.S., it's an ECT. If it's in the western half, it's something else that I haven't figured out yet. Have seen PCT (Pacific Coast Trip) used but not WCT.”

“I'd love to...scheduling is tough. I have been corresponding with Lyndy about the Oct 19-21 West Rim Trail trip. I had previous plans to go to NH the first weekend of Oct, so that is my "big" trip for the fall, anything else will be tough to get a "leave of absence" for. ;-)”

If me, then sorry for being vague. I have mentioned a few times that I am going to NH for four days, the first weekend (Fri-Mon) of October. This is a solo trip--just for dayhikes--that I had planned before I ever saw this discussion board...”

“I meant Towndawg's trip. Can't make it to NH. Should be nice up there at that time though, with the fall foliage.”

“Ok.. mine is Roan MT Tennessee.. a section of the AT.. close to Hampton, TN and hiking THU-SAT.. camping/driving WED and SUN.. making a complete 5 day experience.. it is by FAR the most incredible section of the AT in the SE.. (well that's what the locals tell me anyway.. ).. but the pictures I have seen are nothing short of incredible..

There will be lots of cars, and lots of possibilities.. if you want a 50 mile experience I can help ya make it happen.. you have to be in Roan MT State Park on Wednesday Night, Oct 17. I will have a tent set up, and a nice campfire..

Because of the diverse group of folks that have expressed interest, we are allowing multiple entry and exits.. (The official posted hikes are 13.4 on THU/FRI and 8.1 on SAT, but I for one intend to add Roan Mt Shelter FRI night, which puts another 4 to the total before SAT morning, and if you want to hike to SAT hike, instead of shuttling it makes it another 4.)
