Photo Page Update 9/22

“With apologies to those who had to wait so long, I finally updated the Photo Page.

Added sklukaz
Added some neat Yosemite photos for hikerchik5 from her trip with I-am-OM.
Added pics for Idaho Bob, including one neat one of a plane wreck site.

Again, apologies for taking so long this time. Part of the delay was due to technical problems which got fixed two days ago.

Personal note: We just moved into a new building on campus and I got a new office. It is going to be nice! I traded off having a window office for a large office and have room for a small conference table. If anyone is driving into LA, please stop in. You can see our new building from I-10 in Pomona.”

“Violin - Thanks! And yes, that is a picture of my Uncle that I received not too long ago from my cousin. I believe it is his jump school graduation picture. The wall opposite my desk will eventually be a memorial wall dedicated to him.

I wanted to get a picture of my office while it was clean. In one or two days who knows what it will look like!!

Again, anyone traveling into Los Angeles on Interstate 10 needs to stop by!!”

My thanks too for your work, but "say it ain't so" -- "bad move" on the office. I've worked the college life for 29 years and one of my worse decisions was trading a small faculty office with a window over a plaza for a MUCH larger office without a window.'Bout drove me nuts. Found myself getting up out of the chair about every half hour just to go see if the sun was still shining. Now, if you could arrange for a full sized projection of a nice trail shot on one of your walls perhaps it would work -- or maybe a rotating sequence of all those beautiful, happy faces from the TT photo page! (snicker)”

“That was great Phil. I told my secretary what I had written. She informed me that I wasn't balding, I have a high forehead. Unfortunatly it's getting higher all the time.”

“dayhiker - I have a story too. One time for fun I asked my daughter, Debi (Debi has Down Syndrome), "What happened to Daddy's hair?".

She replied, "Daddy's bangs are cut way back!"

We got lots of laughs out of that over the years.”

“Daddy's bangs are cut way back. That's a classic. Have you ever read Gene Stallings book? His oldest son has Downs. It does a good job of conveying to people who don't have children with special needs, the emotions involved. It's also a story of love and acceptance. When Stallings coached at Bama, his son(John Mark) was an equipment manager and also kept up with the headset cables that you used to see on TV before wireless(the guy that used to always stand next to the coach). He has always been a fan favorite and lives today well into his thirties with his parents in TX.”

“dayhiker - I saw something on TV about them once. His son is awesome...the whole family is. It was very inspiring.

Debi is a Disney nut. We go there 2-4 times a month. I can say without reservation that when we go there she is the "happiest kid at the Happiest Place on Earth."”
