Chiggers “Got Them! So did my son. So we are doing the cream and washed everything with hot water. What do I do with my pack???? Would it also be carrying these lovely creatures? Anyone have any advice?” 7:56:08 AM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “Standard procedure on skin is to dab fingernail polish on each infiltration (watch out for rude comments if you go with Coal Pink). I don't know what to tell you about the pack. I've never had them 'stick around' in that fashion.” 8:18:03 AM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “or maybe 'Coral'. sheesh.” 8:22:47 AM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “It took nearly a week to get rid of mine here. I washed EVERYthing (pack/sleeping bag, etc) as a precautionary measure.” 9:58:13 AM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “what do you wash your pack in - the doctor told me to wash the clothes/sleeping bag in Hot water. Do you think spraying it with an insecticide would do it/ This sucks” 10:38:43 AM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “Anything will help. I don't advocate insecticide myself though. Anyways.. I did find THIS link that might help. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/IG085” 3:11:19 PM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “What are the symptoms of chiggers?” 3:34:32 PM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “null” 3:47:57 PM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “Chiggers die after you wash or brush them off. All you need to worry about is the irritation. The idea that they burrow into you or stay on you is a myth.” 3:52:50 PM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers 4:43:05 PM 9/24/01 RE: Chiggers “Thanks PedXing --that was interesting. I have had chigger bites a couple of times. I always wondered why we did not see them.” 5:20:49 PM 9/24/01
