Spock, the only way you could have learned this is because you have been overwhelmed by reams of evidence refuting your faulty reasoning, spurious claims, and outright misrepresentations. Glad you can, even backhandedly, acknowledge it. That's nice of you to be such a good loser in the argumentation department.

For the record, I own guns and believe that anti-gun forces are seriously misguided, but I do not belong to the NRA. I have issues not with the principle of the 2nd Amendment -- I believe it is crucial to our political identity -- but with the NRA's own propagandizing efforts. It is an unfortunate situation that the NRA has concluded that to offset the shrill cries of the anti-gun movement that it must be equally shrill. But however shrill the NRA's mailings and fundraising efforts, it doesn't rise to the "terrorist" level and it doesn't change the reality as presented by calnative and others of documented facts and legal opinions.

As for the all-powerful NRA reputation, it tried to unseat Bart Stupak, the U.P. congressman, and failed. Stupak is a Republican and former Michigan State Trooper, a lifetime hunter and gunowner -- even, I believe, a member of the NRA (though maybe not now). He didn't toe the line on one vote, and the NRA targeted him. The folks of the U.P. didn't let themselves be stampeded. Other voters are smart enough not to as well.

But then your claim, Spock, that the NRA just "terrorizes" politicians into doing its bidding is just another of your witless and faulty assertions., which birch did a good job of exposing.”

Bunyips
