Alone...in Washington?
Hi, I am from Washington and would like to talk to anyone who likes to hike or has hiked in WA. Also would like to have friends who hike in different states.

RE: Alone...in Washington?
Hi Icegirl, are you from Washington State? There are some hikers on this site from there.

When you sign up for thebackpacker.com there is a comments section which people tell a little bit about themselves. You haven't filled that out, so could you tell us a little about yourself. How old are you, where abouts in WA do you live, and where you like to hike.

I'm 43, married, and live in the Seattle area. I tend to hike in the Olympics. Besides hiking, I like kayaking too.

I'm 42, live in Sultan, about an hour out of Seattle, i have hiked the Beckler River area a lot. I am currently working on the Robe River Valley.
Up out of Granit Falls, i have about 4 more hikes and i have been on all of them in that area. Would like to work towards Baker or maybe Mt. St. Helens. I like to take a lot of pictures when i hike. I entered my pic in the Evergreen State Fair and did quite well.

Hi Icegirl- Ya just missed a great group trip to the High Divide, but stay tuned, the Pac NWer's will be getting together again, soon.

Here's a link to Phil's 'Trail Talk contributer's photo page. There's a link there to a TTers list, by state/ province

I'm just a couple hours north, of you, near Vancouver, B.C.

Hey, Icegirl, I've got a friend (female) who just moved to Sultan. Her husband isn't into hiking much, maybe you could hook up with her. Too bad you didn't post earlier in the year, we were out hiking with a small group almost every weekend, although mostly around Snoqualmie Pass.

Welcome aboard Icegirl. Tons of fun on this site. Just have some thick skin and don't be afraid of off-subject stuff.

I'm from Washington...hike the Olympics mostly. Have you ever been there?
There are enough experts from Washington here to answer most of your questions.

RE: Alone...in Washington?
Icegirl, I'm not sure what you mean. If you click on a trail name under a post, you may find info listed about that person.

The link highlighed in green in the above posts shows you a list of our names which you can click on individually to see our pictures with possible links to our own personal websites.

On the linked page, you will find Phil's address. You can write to him there about posts a picture of you with a link to your album(s).

Phil is another trail talk person here that has graciously started a photo page for us trail talk hikers to view each other. It makes getting to know each other easier, and makes it easier to meet each other for hiking together.

RE: Alone...in Washington?
Glad to 'meet' you. There are quite a few PNW'ers who frequent this site. Many of 'em are like me, been on this site for years but don't post all that often. Still, there's usually some trip or another in the planning stages. The general pattern is a trip is proposed, then the detailed planning takes place via e-mail. That's how last weekend's hike in the Olympics played out. Keep an eye open for "PNW" in a hike proposal, and join in.

You're in Sultan? Just to the East, up the Foss River, is one of the coolest hikes I ever did. Neclace Valley, up to La Bohn Gap.... spectacular. If you haven't done that one, put it on your list.

RE: Alone...in Washington?
Hi Icegirl,
I'm 42, live in Seattle, (but will be moving to China as soon as these TTers get enough airfare together for me...LMAO). If you want an expert's opinion about hiking in western Washington...where the most scenic places are and awesome places to take pictures, then look no further. However, you will need to be ready to gain some elevation. On behalf of the intelligent, moral minority on this site , Welcome!

RE: Alone...in Washington?
Welcome! The PNW group seems quite active and fun. They have even been known to dip down here to California for a Sierra trip or visit to the coast.

Like they said, you can post your picture, a few favorite photos, and links to other photo pages you may have. It is purely voluntary. We have almost 180 contributors so far (I can't always post right away... sometimes it takes a few days).
