I think he's well on his way to being one of the legends.” 3:39:48 PM 10/01/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Yngwie Malmsteen” 6:06:26 PM 10/01/01 RE: favorite guitarists “toejam, you should take another listen to Steve Howe. Have you seen the movie "cal" . . depressing irish thing . . .but GREAT soudntrack. I have his stuff with Chet Atkins . . . his latest albumn, Sailing to Philadelphia is fantastic as well . . .the title duet with JT is awesome. Speaking of Emmy Lou Harris (we were speaking of her weren't we) . . .for a few months this past winter I had Red Dirt Girl and Sailing to Philly both in the cd changer . .” 8:46:10 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “There are some great "Blues Chicks" out there; Sue Foley Shannon Curfman Susan Tedeschi” 9:05:51 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Hey Tom T., I got to see Shannon Curfman at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2000, and she was everything live that she is on disc. Incredible voice and hot licks for her age -- let's hope the future sees her get even better.” 10:03:19 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Some Fender-Bendin' women for sure!” 10:16:35 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Jimi Hendrix made me by a Stratocaster.” 11:48:01 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “How did he do that?” 11:54:22 AM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Since I got a Telecaster the Stratocaster has been gittin' lonely. There is just SOMETHING about that primitive "slab o' wood"............. Well, I did "Tex" it with a Strat pickup in the neck position and "hot" p u at the bridge~@%^>” 12:00:16 PM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Chet Atkins” 12:10:24 PM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Tom Terrific You like the Telecaster over the Strat! I never really liked a Tele that much. Of course I was a BC Rich man myself.” 8:33:04 PM 10/02/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Yeah, there's just something about it. I played the Strat for ten years.....and then along came the Telecaster. B. C. Rich be some butt-ugly guitars.” 8:51:06 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Ah YES! The the Rich Bitch! Kind of like my fat Aunt Millie, ugly yet powerfull.” 8:56:47 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Sammy Hagar rocks!” 9:00:49 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “All those mentioned above would be nothing if it weren't for the likes of Lester Polfuss........... LES PAUL.” 9:05:08 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Page,Satrani,Van halen,Harrison and to a much lesser degree-myself. I owned a strat. I bought a carvin-the strat had to go! I wouldn't trade it for any other instrument. Oh yeah,Zep rules!” 9:08:00 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Leo Fender is....er, uh, was....my favorite non-guitar-playin' guitar dude.” 10:12:04 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “How could I forget Travis Meeks!?” 10:16:35 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Beats the sh!t outa me?” 10:19:31 AM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Hmmmm...found a mule in my mailbox this mornin'. Thanks for contraban Budder. Very fine stuff!” 11:46:54 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Hope ya dig it!” 11:48:49 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Eddie Van Halen was good when DLR was the front man. The Sammy Hagar days stunk!” 11:50:11 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “(Hendrix) Just had to say it again!” 11:51:55 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Do you think Eddie Van Halen was making room for Hagar when they played together? That would have been pretty big of him if he was.” 11:54:07 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “I liked Hagar before he joined Van Halen. Together they just plain stunk. Their music just kinda laid there. Nothing, Absolutly nothing.” 11:57:41 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Sammy Hagar was better when he was on his own before the Van Halen days.” 11:58:30 PM 10/03/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Oh Yeah, Susan Tedeschi DOES rock! So does Diana Krall, But she's not a guitar girl. And Mark Knopfler, KIng of the finger pickers (sorry, Chet) And speaking of guitars, can't leave out Gibson and the Les Paul line, favorites of the cool set everywhere. And Paul Reed Smith, Instrument maker extrordinaire.” 12:07:14 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Hey, we could get into the bluegrass pickers if we wanted to talk flat pickin'.” 12:18:23 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Huh, I must be the odd man out here cause I loved Van Hagar. The old DLR stuff was so worn out and old. Eruption could barely even raise my blood pressure any more. Sammy brought something DLR never had and that was the ability to actually write. Sammy's Marching to Mars was a great CD. If you ever get to see him live jump at it. He is great live.” 12:57:42 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “I dug the raw energy of the Van Halen I and II eforts. The Van Hagar days were also musically productive, cause like Mr.Nigal said..."Sammy could write" (and sing), it's just that it was more lovey dovey music. But killer, none the less. The chemistry between Sammy and Eddie was exponentiallly greater than if they were both solo...like maaany other duos in musical history.” 1:52:36 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “i really like hagar's early work with ronnie montrose.... get on your bad motorscooter and rrrriiiiiiddddddddeeeee!!!!” 4:07:17 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Leslie West is still ALIVE and well........and about 250 pounds lighter!!! Man Mountain could MOVE the whole joint! They say he could snap a guitar neck......maybe when he was too drunk!” 9:05:13 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Robert Cray defines the blues...” 11:25:25 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “I would prefer that Robert Cray ditch the horns.....but he is a great one!” 11:33:38 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Rusty Travis” 11:35:34 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “The "Tenacious D" duo” 11:37:10 AM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Todays music sucks because nobody plays Guitar solo's anymore! It's like songs have a big gap in them or something. Where's the Beef!?!?” 6:39:33 PM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Mr.Terrific...if you like Leslie West than I KNOW you'd like Gov't Mule. He was one of Warren's influences, and has played with the band a number of times. The Mule does an looong and incredible Nantucket Sleighride jam.” 6:54:36 PM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “buddur....saw leslie west and mountain years ago at the ohio theater in columbus before they restored it....we were sitting in the balcony and they were SO LOUD!! that big chunks of plaster from the ceiling were falling down.....awesome show!!” 11:10:18 PM 10/04/01 RE: favorite guitarists “robin trower....” 1:59:28 AM 10/05/01 RE: favorite guitarists “Cheese & rice...can't forget TOMMY IOMMI.” 9:29:52 AM 10/05/01
