"Keep it coming..."

You know, I spend all my time around 15 and 16 year olds. I can't read something like that without laughing my arse off.

Okay. Sorry. Back to work.

SissyBoyBrian and I were chatting about this December Hike Weekend Getaway. I'm getting a bit anxious. Should be fun!!

Anyone wanna do a dayhike Thanksgiving weekend? I am pretty sure I could fit a few hours in one day!

Hey, keep me updated on any nearby Thanksgiving weekend hikes. I'm trying to buy a car, so I can't commit right now.

Working on Saturday? Bummer. Of course, I'll be at school tomorrow checking papers. It kind of sucks to be a responsible person, doesn't it?

Oh, yeah, and I've been thinking about January hikes. We need a place that either stays relatively snow-free or gets good hikeable hardpack. I'm thinking West loop at Island Lake, or ice-breaker tour along the Detroit River.

Oh, and maybe we could check out the ice formations at Point Pelee.

Anyway...

Binra

Smiley Girl
Buddha
Birch
Me

Reformed's sister (What's her name?)
Cow Patty.

14 if Adventure Girl and pal come along.

Do you think we should get a second cabin? It wouldn't be a problem. There are three right there.

Cow Patty, are you still camping and will you be around for meals if so?

Good idea for the final count Tarabull, might be some last minute cancelations.

I stopped by the cabins this weekend. The lake looks nice. I don't think they have parking for 14 cars though!
Hartwick pines was spectacular as always. I didn't get to hike any of the x-country trails. No deer either :-(

Too bad LeSubtil! About the deer that is. Did you happen to notice how big the cabins are? What do you think about the second one?

We will ask the guy where he'd suggest parking the cars. Maybe on the road?

RE: Michigan Hikers! (and Ohio friends)
The guy said he had seventeen cars, some with trailers, this weekend. So we won't have to worry about that. He also said we could have a second cabin for $100, just fifteen feet from the first.

I am particial to everyone being in the same one but don't want anyone to be uncomfortable.

RE: Michigan Hikers! (and Ohio friends)
Since we are all campers, I don't think anyone will mind sleeping on the floor.

Even if all 12 people come, we will have plenty of room. 3 bedrooms (6 people) a person or two on couches and a few cozy floor sleepers!! I will not complain if I end up on the floor. Heck, if the weather is right, I may set up a tent in the yard!

Plus, I am happy to keep cost down this close to the holiday season! So, I will not complain if we stick t one cabin.

We are really really going to get to know each other over the weekend...

P.S. Binra snores. Loud. Maybe we'll stick him in the tub!

Sass - that was Tequila that Binra was drinking at Zaleski. YUC

Smiley/RL/Le Subtil - I can do any day during the holiday weekend. I would love to do Friday cause I always get bored at home on the day after Thanksgiving. But, if any of you have to work, then Sat or Sun will be fine, too.

How about Holly Rec? I hear there are some decent trails there. Anyone been there before?

Smiley - we can share a ride if ya like. (I know how to get there, if that helps!)

RL? Le Subtil? Are you guys gonna join us for a dayhike or what?

Le Sub - This is a pretty short drive for you considering some of the other hikes you've been on....

Friday?? Or is Sat or Sun better?

Side Note regarding January at Point Pelee:
This is in Cananda, right? Remember, they will require a birth certificate or passport along w/ the drivers license to let you back in... So, if you're like me and aren't sure where these things are, you'd better get on it now!

Tarabull, RL, want to carpool? I could stand to drive by a couple sites while I'm up there, I promise it will only take 2 minutes!

RE: Michigan Hikers! (and Ohio friends)
Hey guys!

I have verbal agreement to buy a car - late model Buick LeSabre, low miles. It's actually a really nice car and won't break the bank. I won't be able to carry as much gear around, but I will look good going to teacher conferences.

The best thing is that it's an old family friend and we also know the guy who has serviced it. So, no surprises, right?

Hey, I think I can make a Friday hike. I'll talk to my dad and get back to you guys later tonight.

1/2 day at school tomorrow. Movie day!

Sometimes, when we're really lucky, my boss closes our office at 3 before a holiday weekend... other times, I just make up a meeting and leave anyway!

Glad to hear you'll (probably) be joining us RL. Now, if Le Sub would only respond...

If anyone else decides to join us, we'll meet at 10am on Friday Nov 23. The map is hard to read, but it appears we can probably park near "point 1" by McGinnis Lake and start the hike there.

Movies?

The choices: Huck Finn (high cuteness values) and White Fang (starring Ethan Hawke). We've just been getting into Mark Twain and Jack London, so they have "educational value". One of the football players is baking cookies for the class. Should be interesting.

The only potential snag on the hike is that I need to take care of all the registration/insurance stuff with the car tomorrow. I think I can get it done, but it's not a sure thing. I'll post any changes.

Everyone know how to get there? Take I-75 to Grange Hall Road. Go east on Grange Hall, past Dixie Highway, follow the jog (there will be signs). Look for a sign for Barron Road, at that road you will see Groveland Township Hall on the south side of Grange Hall, the trail head is behind the building.
