No need for tent poles
Viagra helps people breathe at high altitudes

LONDON - Viagra, the blockbuster anti-impotence drug, also can help people breathe more easily at high altitudes and on mountaineering expeditions where oxygen levels are low, scientists at Hammersmith Hospital said.

When Professor Martin Wilkins and scientists at the National Center for Cardiology in Kyrgyzstan tested Viagra on people breathing low levels of oxygen they found that the same enzyme that constricts blood flow to the penis, preventing erections, also produced breathlessness at high altitudes by constricting the arteries in the lungs.

Viagra blocks the action of the enzyme.

Wilkins said it was an exciting discovery and could help people suffering from high blood pressure in the lungs. But he added a word of caution.

"It is important to stress that whilst this is an exciting discovery, there is still a need for clinical trials," Wilkins said.

This may be a breakthrough in self-arrest as well!

I would have to stop and ask evey single person I passed, "Is it just me or is this a hard trail?", or, "Pardon me, have you seen my wife around here?"

Ever see the episode of Mad About You where Paul took the Viagra on his way home and he could get home and it kicked in half way home?

Oh yeah, sorry. I forgot, TV is the opiat of the masses.

RE: No need for tent poles
I forgot my poles once and just used that Siera Designs Lookout like a large bivy. Unfortunately, the wind blew like crazy and those clips on the outside beat me in the head all night.

Oh... those tent poles...
